Alutiiqs and Aleuts from the Aleutian Islands and Kodiak hunted and fished in their Baidarkas. They carried from one to three men and were amazingly seaworthy. They faced the open sea in those skin covered kayaks wearing their gut skin parkas made from seal intestines. This depicts three hunters out fishing and hunting on a quiet, misty bay.
All prints are hand signed by me.
Choices for prints: Archival giclees, archival prints, and poster prints. Please click the drop down menu for sizes and pricing. 8 x 12's and 5 x 7's come with a mat, backing board, and clear sleeve. Giclees and archival prints are printed with archival ink, heavy, archival art paper, matte finish, and hand signed.
Photo/poster prints: Lustre paper. and hand signed. Standard sizes have some cropping off the long sides of the pic.
Enhanced canvases are available with up to 90% original paint. They are semi-original/one-of-a-kind and are individually done. They take more time as they are commissioned. Please inquire for the price.
A flyer with the painting name, artist information, and a statement that it is hand signed, is included.

Rhonda Shelford Jansen is of Aleut and Alutiiq descent, a shareholder of the Aleut Corp and CIRI and member of Ninilchik Tribe. She has been in and around the fishing industry her whole life. Raised in Alaska and of Alaska Native decent, she comes from a long line of Alaskan fishermen. Her husband and youngest son continue the tradition. Painting and photographing fishing, Alaska Native, and nautical scenes is a perfect fit.
