This fabulous scarf/large hankie is by the one and only Ceil Chapman, the American fashion designer who worked in New York from the 1940s through the 1960s. She was noted for creating glamorous cocktail and party dresses and for working with celebrity clients, including movie and tv actresses.

As noted on three tags, this New Old Stock piece was made in the Philippines for Carol Stanley. It’s pure linen and hand rolled, and signed by Chapman. The base color is white, the edges are pink, the background is pale purple, which is adorned with large flowers in white, two shades of pink, and dark purple leaves. An absolutely gorgeous hankie.

*Please note that this piece is not without flaws. As shown in the last two photos, there are what appear to be water marks mostly on the center of the handkerchief. I am leaving laundering to the buyer.
