enamels are separated into three categories by their levels of opacity and translucence, thus the opaques, the transparents, and the more unpredictable opalescent colors. traditionally, it's considered wrong, but i love when colors behave in ways that blur these distinctions. for this pair, this pale, pale, faded blue was applied lightly allowing for the pink of the copper below to show through and impart some lovely lavender and berry hues.
the pale denim blue is paired with a dotted pyramid of colors--dark sea blue (not quite cobalt, but not pastel either), chartreuse lime, and three shades of rosy pink--a dark red cranberry pink, a lighter strawberry pink, and a paler still rose petal pink. these polka dots are made with fused glass beads that are melted into the surface of the enamel. they have a slightly raised and rounded profile that add a lovely tactile quality to these earrings.
the backs are huffalo stamped and are enameled a transparent pink and green. they measure 1 1/2" (3.6 cm) tall and 7/8" (2.4 cm) at the widest point and they hang gracefully from sterling silver shepherd hook ear wires.
