How many pads will I need?

It depends on your flow. A good starting point is 3–4 regular pads plus one overnight pad. You can always wear a heavier pad on lighter days, but not the reverse.

How often do I need to change my cloth pad?

Cloth pads are changed just like disposables, every 2–6 hours, depending on your flow. Most people find that the right absorbency will comfortably last overnight.

Not if you match absorbency to your flow. A heavier pad can always handle a lighter day, but lighter pads may need changing more often on heavy days.

Will my cloth pad move around in my underwear?

Our pads are backed with corduroy to help them stay in place. Well-fitting underwear also makes a big difference. If you experience shifting, try a different width or one of our longer, flared pads.

Is it gross to wash cloth pads?

Not at all. Washing cloth pads is no different to washing other items that come into contact with blood. We provide simple care instructions to make it easy.

What do I do if I’m out and need to change my pad?

Just pop the used pad into a small bag until you can wash it at home. Easy, discreet, and waste-free.

Bird in Milk Light Absorbency Cloth Pads are created for light menstrual flow, menstrual cup backup, and everyday freshness. They feature a highly absorbent 650gsm core to ensure you stay comfortable and dry.

Bird in Milk Classic Flare style pads closely resemble the shape of disposable pads.

Customising Your Pad:
1. Choose Length and Fabric: Select the length and fabric type using the drop-down options.
2. Snapped Width Options: Pads can be made with a snapped width of 2.25, 2.5, 2.75, or 3 inches (measured at the gusset, typically the narrowest part). If you have a preference, please leave a note at checkout; otherwise, pads will be made with a 2.75-inch snapped width.

Choosing the Right Length: The average regular disposable pad is 8 to 9 inches long. If you experience leaking or are unsure about the length, measure your underwear from front to back where you want the pad to cover to determine the ideal length.

Materials and Construction:
• Pre-washed Fabrics: All fabrics are pre-washed to remove any residues and minimise shrinkage.
• Hemp/Cotton Fabric: Soaked, heat-washed, and tumble-dried two times before construction to maximise absorbency.
• Natural Materials: Made entirely from cotton or hemp fibres, free from synthetic, petroleum-based fabrics, and micro plastic-producing fibres like polyurethane laminate (PUL) and synthetic fleece.
• No Waterproof Layer as no synthetic fibres are used.
• No Glue or Basting sprays are used in the construction of your pads.
• Marking and Tracing: Patterns are traced with a non-toxic, water-soluble fabric marker designed for this purpose.
• Design: Pads are designed to be worn with the decorative print side against the skin.
• Non-Slip Backing: Made from 100% cotton corduroy.
• Threads and Snaps: 100% cotton thread and KAM snaps.

Care Instructions:
• Washing: Do not rinse pads in hot water as it may set blood stains. Use cold water for rinsing and stain treatment.
• Avoid Fabric Softeners: Commercial fabric softeners can leave residues that reduce absorbency over time. Vinegar or natural softeners are usually fine to use.

Processing Time: Once the invoice is paid, please allow up to 14 days for construction. Most orders are processed sooner, but all items are made to order, just for you.
