Vintage Crochet Slippers Pattern: Easy DIY Project (PDF Download)

Looking for the easiest crochet slipper pattern ever? This is definitely it! I’m not too sure on the original publication date on this one as it was in a scrapbook of old patterns from all sorts of sources. The collection seems to span from the 1930’s on up to about 1980. If I had to guess I’d put this one in the late 40’s to early 50s.

This really is the easiest pattern I’ve ever come across for crocheted slippers - and they actually look good, unlike some of the horrors from the 70’s and 80’s! The directions are for a women’s size 7-8 but it’s remarkably easy to adjust the size for any foot. The original pattern had sizing for men, women and children but I ended up using the men’s sizing for the ones in the picture - apparently I have big feet, or men didn’t when the pattern was written. Either way, I did some tweaking for clarity and changed the shape of the toe to be a little less pointed than the original turned out.

1 skein of yarn will make a pair with yarn leftover, even on a men’s size 13, and they’re really quick to do. A couple evenings crocheting during TV time and you’ll be done. I decorated mine with some Irish crochet roses and leaves (directions included) but you could sew on buttons, patches, ribbons, beads or whatever. They’re a perfect canvas for embellishment so let your imagination run wild!

1 7 oz skein of Caron’s Simply Soft (366 yards/344 meters worsted weight yarn)
Size H/8 (5mm) crochet hook
