A large ceramic piggy bank glazed in copper shino with spots of red and blue. Think of the money you will have saved when you bring this big guy to the bank! Please note that the copper shino glaze can vary with each firing. Photos depict some variation that can occur. Last two photos are of a smaller size piggy bank and is used only as a reference to glaze variations. This glaze combination cannot be personalized
This large size piggy bank is approximately 8" from cork snout to tail, About 7" from hoof to ear. Expect some variations as each of these are handmade.

Jeff Brown and I are a pottery making couple, living and working in Seagrove, NC. In 2012 we started to collaborate on making piggy banks.

We make the bodies of pigs on the potters wheel and then handcraft the legs, ears and tail.

Making pottery is a time consuming process. Each piece is thrown on the potters wheel and left to stiffen up. At just the right degree of hardness, the pot is trimmed and additional parts added, such as handles or sculpted into piggy banks.
The pots then need to be completely dry before the first firing (bisque). Next we glaze the pots and load them into the gas kiln and fire for over 18 hours.
Much of our process is dependent on the weather. We try to build our delivery times into that, but occasionally orders will take longer due to things that are out of our control.

We strive to deliver our orders on time. Occasionally things happen that are out of our control. Weather can delay our firing schedule (our gas kiln is located outdoors under a metal shed) as well a piece coming out of the kiln with a glaze flaw. In the case of a flaw, we will re-make or re-fire the piece to correct the issue. This may delay shipping times.
