Materials: broom corn, twine, wire, hardwood handle, homestead grown

This listing is for a natural broom corn besom or Cabin broom, like the ones pictured. Each broom is custom made when ordered.

They are about 39" long, with a 7 inch sweep. Depending on the wood used in the handles, they weigh between 1 an 1.5 pounds.

The sweep is all natural broom corn. The handles are sustainably harvested hardwood including sassafrass, hickory, oak, persimmon, and ironwood. If you have a handle preference, please send a convo. The brooms are wire tied and plaited with colored twine. If you have a color preference, let us know.

Our brooms are beautiful and functional. You'll want to hang them on your wall as art - and have them handy to clean.

We charge only actual shipping for sending your broom. Because of their shape, brooms ship by volume, not by weight. The etsy shipping calculator is relatively accurate, but we do refund any overage that you pay. We can ship multiple brooms in the same box for one shipping cost and will refund the extra shipping paid.

Broomcorn - the material used in almost all of our brooms - wasn't developed until about 1765. Before that time, birch twigs, dogwood twigs, or heather was used to fashion floor brooms.

Havencroft Farm brooms have been featured and created at the Ozark Folk Center State Park for more than a decade. In that time, our brooms have won the national craft broom championship in Arcola, Illinois six times.

Havencroft brooms are all designed and tied by Shawn and Lena.

Shawn and Lena harvest sticks for their brooms in the winter, dry them one season and then strip and lacquer finish them.

If you have questions, please send a convo.
