How long does it take to make a portrait?

The average turnaround time from start to finish is one to two weeks. If there are orders ahead of yours, I will provide you an estimated completion date during the portrait consultation process.

Do you offer discounts on multiple orders?

I do not offer discounts on orders, but I can offer discounted rates on shipping. For multiple portraits, I can provide you with a custom listing and incorporate the reduced shipping in the total price.

What if I can't decide what picture to use for a custom portrait?

Send me a message through Etsy with the pictures you're deciding between and we can discuss which one would work best. When in doubt, send a message.

What size portrait should I buy?

It depends on where you would like to place the portrait. If you’re planning on hanging it in a small area such as an entryway or hallway, I recommend the 8 x 10 or 9 x 12 inch size. For larger spaces such as living areas and dens, the 11 x 14 inch or larger size will be most appropriate.

How do I take a good picture of my pet?

If your pet is normally kept indoors, try to take a picture with your pet near a window with direct sunlight. Pictures taken at night or with indoor lamps tend to turn out blurry and unsuitable for portraits. The best pictures are taken with your pet outside. When taking the picture, try to position yourself to have the camera at the same height as your pet and no more than a few feet away. Send the highest resolution image you have to me through Etsy messaging.

Do you offer framing services?

Unfortunately, I do not frame the portraits I draw. I believe choosing a frame is a very personal decision and it depends on where you plan on placing the portrait. Support your local frame shop and pay them a visit. Their expertise will ensure that your portrait is well protected and will look great in your home.

Are there more examples of your work?

Do you draw other animals besides cats and dogs?

Yes I do! I love drawing all sorts of pets. I’ve drawn ferrets, birds, and rabbits just to name a few. If you have a pet that you would like to have drawn, message me and I can tell you if I have the ability to capture their likeness into a portrait.

Can you do a rush order/expedited order?

Unfortunately I am unable to do rush orders. I complete all portraits in the order they are received. As an alternative option, gift certificates are available.

How do you package & ship artwork?

I ship all artwork through the United States Postal Service (USPS) from San Jose, California. All artwork is safely surrounded by 1-inch thick cardboard sheets and wrapped in a sturdy cardboard box. Insurance and tracking is provided for all orders. Orders within the U.S. can be shipped via USPS Parcel Select (2-8 business day delivery) or expedited delivery with USPS Priority Mail (1-3 business day delivery).

The minimum value of the gift certificate is $50 USD. Gift certificates may be purchased in increments of $25, up to $425. This item will ship the next business day with FREE USPS standard shipping for customers within the U.S. (3-5 business day delivery).

The gift certificate measures 3.75 by 8.25 inches and includes a complimentary gray envelope for convenient gift-giving. The gift certificate will be packaged in a sturdy cardboard photo mailer for protection during shipping.

To redeem the gift certificate, send an email to PotatoArtStudios [at] gmail.com. Include the gift certificate code in the subject of the email. If the pet portrait cost exceeds the value of the gift certificate, a custom listing will be created on Etsy with the outstanding balance. If the pet portrait is less than the value of the gift certificate, the remaining balance will be updated via email correspondence and my personal records. The balance may be used on any listing(s) on the Potato Art Studios online store.

There is an 8-digit serial number assigned to the gift certificate. Please do not have the serial number displayed publicly. After I am contacted with the gift certificate serial number, any additional attempts to redeem the same gift certificate number will be invalid.
