How Do I Apply a MamsDesigned Vinyl Decal?

It's easy. Here's how: Step 1: Clean the desired application area with rubbing alcohol and let dry completely. Step 2: Burnish the decal (gently rub the transfer tape that comes applied to design with straight edge, such as a credit card or driver's license). Step 3: Slowly remove the backing from the vinyl decal. Be careful! Do not let the decal fold over to touch itself. If it sticks to itself, it's never un-sticking, friend. Step 4: Carefully place decal on the chosen surface. Step 5: Smooth out decal by again gently rubbing it with a straight edge. Step 6: Slowly peel the transfer tape back on itself, leaving the design on the item. If decal doesn't readily stick, try warming up the surface.

My MamsDesigned Vinyl Decal Won't Stick. Help!

That's really disappointing, but I bet the problem is one of two issues. First, if you're trying to apply a decal to an item made from silicone, you're out of luck. No decal will stick. So sorry. The second, and much more common, problem is a cold surface, like a car window in January or a stainless steel tumbler in my old house's kitchen. The decal's adhesive needs a bit of warmth (or at least absence of cold) for its adhesive to "activate" and for the clear transfer tape to "let go." Try warming up your surface. Directing the heat from a blow dryer onto your surface works like a charm. Bonus tip: Thoroughly clean your windshield of Rain-X or other water repellent before attempting to apply your decal. Trust me on this one. ;)

I like that MamDesigned decal, but I want the design on a Tshirt. Can you do that? Can I buy the digital cut file?

Since I draw all the designs in my shop, I can make a Tshirt from most MamsDesigned decal designs, or a tumbler decal from a Tshirt design, etc. I don't sell MamsDesigned designs as digital cut files, but I have a number of similar designs (as well as many other unique designs) in my digital shop, Mams and the Badger (www.MamsandtheBadger.etsy.com). If you see a digital file there that you'd like made into a vinyl decal, I may be able to help you with that, too. Just message me and we'll work out the details.

USPS says my MamsDesigned package was delivered, but I can't find it. What should I do?

Well, that is really awful. Here's what may have happened: If you live with others, one of them may have misplaced your package. My boy occasionally wanders off with mine. Ask everyone if they've retrieved the mail. The mail carrier might have mis-scanned as "delivered" when it's really just loaded on the truck. Wait a day or so to see if it's delivered. If you still don't find your package, call your Post Office and ask for GPS coordinates of delivery. If GPS shows it was delivered to your address, you may have been struck by a mail thief. Despicable. Stealing mail is a federal offense and you should immediately file a police report. International: call your Post Office to ask if your package is being held until you pay customs taxes.

I live outside the U.S. and my package arrived with customs fees due. Will MamsDesigned resolve it for me?

Taxes—including customs duties, import taxes and VAT fees—suck. I wish you weren't subject to them. Neither Etsy nor MamsDesigned can predict, estimate, collect or pay your taxes/fees. They are solely your responsibility as a buyer. If you fail to pay the fee, your postal service will make a "forced return" (send your package back to the seller). MamsDesigned will not refund for forced returns.

Does Mamsdesigned ship free?

MamsDesigned participates in the Etsy "Free Shipping with Order Totals (in my shop) Over $35" initiative. That means if you purchase $35 or more (in the same order) from MamsDesigned, your items will ship free via USPS First Class to U.S. domestic addresses. If you provide an inaccurate address or fail to retrieve your package and it is sent back to me for whatever reason, and you would like me to reship it, please contact me to purchase reshipping fees.

Why is the processing so long?

Cancer treatment. Ugh. I am uncertain how it will affect me day to day. Rather than close my shops, I decided to extend the processing times. Chances are, I will be able to cut and ship much, much sooner than the dates listed, but I wanted to err on the side of caution. If you have a particular timing need, please contact me via Etsy messages to discuss, and I'll do my best to accommodate you. Step 5: Smooth out decal by again gently rubbing it with a straight edge.

Step 6: Slowly peel the transfer tape back on itself, leaving the design on the item. If decal doesn't readily stick, try warming up the surface.

Additional Information:

⭐️ On rare occasions, adhesive residue may be left on the decal after removing the transfer tape. Remove the residue by pressing down on it with your thumb and sliding the residue from the center toward the edge. Your body heat will soften the residue, allowing it to slide off easily with one or more "swipes."
⭐️ Occasionally, bubbles may develop due to heat during shipment. Most will disappear on their own as the decal's adhesive "cures." If not, rubbing the bubble toward the edge of the decal will remove most bubbles. Stubborn bubbles can be removed by piercing with a fine needle and rubbing gently.
⭐️ Manufacturer recommends hand-washing item to which decal is applied.
⭐️ Decal can be applied to most smooth surfaces.
⭐️ Decal is removable, but not reusable.
⭐️ Not recommended for walls, as removing may damage paint/surface. If you would like a wall decal, please message me to request one from the appropriate style of vinyl safe for walls.

USPS scrambled up the delivery by sending it to the wrong location and had to send it back to it took 3 extra days to get here. But wasn’t the seller’s fault. Looks great and applied easy enough.
