18 inch Doll Clothes Pattern ~ Opal's Ruffle Dress PDF Sewing hand made to fit historical AG Dolls

This PDF sewing pattern for 18 inch and AG dolls is for a 1940s style inspired dress with some frill for stylish fun.

For a flattering look, it has princess lines with a flared skirt as well as a yoke in the back that forms into a front panel in front. The yoke sports a ruffle in the front panel that wraps around to the back at the shoulders. The ruffle can be made in a contrasting color of fabric to coordinate with the sash. I have included both hook and loop and zipper closure instructions.

This pattern offers three options for the sash. The first sash is less wide and is tied in back. The second sash is wider and wraps around the back to be tied in the front. With the wider sash, you can make it longer to be tied into a bow or shorter to be tied in a knot at the front.

Recommended Fabrics:

o Lightweight cotton, broadcloth, or quilting cotton– 44/45 inch wide
o Cotton lawn (note that it is best not to use see-through fabric as there is no lining in this pattern)
o Cotton batiste for facing—44/45 inch wide

Supplies Needed:

• ½ yard fashion fabric
• A fat quarter of contrast fabric
• ¼ yard lining fabric
• 6-inch length of hook and loop tape or
• 6-inch zipper (optional) from “Zipper That Doll”
• Thread to match fashion fabric and contrast fabric
• 1½ yards of 5/8 to 1-inch-wide ribbon of choice for sashes(optional)
• Dressmaker’s chalk and/or water-soluble pen/pencil
• Steam a Seam 2™ ¼ inch wide (optional) to be used with a zipper
