Display this little wall hanging in your kitchen or dining room, and it will bring comforting thoughts of tea in the garden and spring sunshine. A pot-bellied teapot in a cheerful vintage floral print in sunny yellows and greens on white background is perched on a corner of a wooden table, surrounded by creamy blossoms and green leaves. A restrained black and white pinstriped frame adds a finishing touch.

I made this wall hanging by appliqueing shapes with a zig-zag stitch around the edge, giving the picture a rustic, relaxed style. I sandwiched a layer of soft quilt batting between the face of the picture and the stiff backing fabric, so the shapes stand out in subtle relief. I added some hand embroidered detail to the flowers for extra texture and complexity. For easy hanging, I stitched two small plastic rings to the upper corners of the picture.

The fabrics used in this piece are a mix of reclaimed fabrics and scraps of new fabrics leftover from other projects, which makes this a very environmentally friendly piece of art.

The size is about 8.5" by 11" -- the size of a standard sheet of paper.
