Commercially pure grade 1 titanium ear wires, completely nickel free and hypoallergenic, to replace irritating ear wires for those with sensitive ears or metal allergies! Wear your favorite earrings again! These ear wire hooks are available in natural titanium (gray/silver) or anodized a gold tone and are sold by the pair. Please note the gold ear wires will not look like 14K gold, they are a shade of gold. They come with the shown silicone earring safety backs. Pure grade 1 titanium is 99% pure titanium with no added alloys. Titanium is considered the most hypoallergenic of all metals. It is commonly used in surgical implants because it is non-reactive and bio-compatible. It will not rust, corrode, or tarnish over time. It is also very strong, durable, and extremely lightweight. Titanium does not require constant cleaning, however if your jewelry becomes dirty, dull or the color has changed, fill a bowl with water and add some mild dish soap. It is best to use distilled or reverse osmosis water as the minerals and chemicals in tap water can leave a dull or spotty finish. Soak you titanium jewelry in the solution for a few minutes and then gently rub any dirt off the pieces with a soft cloth. Rinse with distilled or RO water and dry with a clean towel. Leaving titanium pieces to air dry may cause them to spot.
Titanium can also be cleaned using ammonia. You can use Original Windex which contains ammonia or use jewelry cleaning solutions. Do not use anything containing chlorine or bleach.

Anodizing titanium generates an array of different colors without dyes. It is a completely bio-compatible process which means it will not interact with the body or affect the bio-compatible properties of titanium, keeping them hypoallergenic. Anodizing is a process done by etching the titanium and applying voltage to it. The color formed is caused by the interference of light reflecting off the oxide surface with light traveling through it and reflecting off the underlying metal surface. Because the color is of light interference, the lighting and the angle at which it is viewed can appear to alter the color. The color choices pictured are approximate as the process has such variables. Each anodizing session can have different results.
