It’s always so much fun heading out to a concert, sporting event, or festival. However, with these large scale events, the sizes of bags allowed inside seems to be getting smaller. Many of these venues have started to make exceptions to their bag policy sizes - as long as they are clear. I was faced with this set of circumstances and had to make a clear vinyl bag the night before I left for an out-of-state event. My last minute project became the inspiration behind the Emma Stadium Bag.

These bags are based on using clear vinyl as the main body with a fabric zipper top to keep contents safe from the elements and also while in busy public spaces. The medium and large sizes feature a slip pocket to stay organized. The small size includes a wristlet strap while the medium uses a cross-body strap. The large size consists of wider shoulder straps for a heavier load. You can mix and match these features to create your very own style. The side seams of the vinyl are sewn down to keep you hands from being scratched and there is a clean finish inside the bag where the fabric completely encloses the vinyl.

You can customize each bag using your favorite team fabric or some fun colored vinyl. This sewing pattern will show you how to sew a zipper opening and how to bind a zipper for a clean finish. I’ll show you some alternative techniques to hide seams for a beautifully finished bag, including mitered binding. You’ll learn how to sew with vinyl, make three different straps, and add D-ring tabs in two ways.

The Emma Stadium Bag is not just for public events. Use the large size for a school or work bag. The medium size is perfect to use as a project bag, to hold toys, makeup and toiletries for travel. The small size can be used to hold your TSA approved liquids at the airport, as well as a pouch within a larger tote.

As is the case whenever I order a pattern, it might be months before I use it and can give an actual review. Since ETSY harasses it's customers to give a review, I have left this one. It downloaded very easily and I'm excited to try it out after I get some other things done.
