These colorful and unique blank greeting cards feature illuminations from three medieval manuscripts. Lift the cutout miniature illustration at its gilded edge to reveal a writing area for your secret messages.
The card fronts are printed in full color on 15 pt stock with a satin matte finish and hand-detailed with a touch of gold leaf accent. The reverse sides of the front flaps are color-printed with additional imagery from the same manuscript as the front. The back and writing areas of the cards are made of gold-flecked heavy card stock. The hand-inked reverse side of each card provides additional writing space and is labeled at the bottom with information about the image and its source.
The set of three 4″ × 6″ cards includes matching envelopes in assorted colors and an information card providing further details about each image and manuscript, all wrapped in paper with a wax seal.
The illuminations on these handcrafted and carefully curated cards include John of Patmos and the Whore of Babylon from The Bible Historiale (French, 1405), Saint Catherine of Alexandria from The Gualenghi-d'Este Hours (Italian, 1469), and The Mouth of Hell from the Hours of Catherine of Cleves (Dutch, 1440).
