What Is Rhodium Plated Silver?

Rhodium plating is a metal deposition process used to coat materials with a decorative and protective layer of rhodium. Rhodium is a noble metal that imparts an extremely bright and hard wearing finish when applied as plating. When applied as a thin plate, it affords a durable finish of exceptional brightness. Rhodium finishes can greatly enhance the appearance and longevity of any metal to which they are applied. Plated Silver may not be suitable for sensitive skin. The base metal is Brass and Zinc. Plated Silver may tarnish when exposed to sweat, perfume and lotions. As well as water, sea, pool or bathing and showering. Do not wear in water! This should easily be cleaned with a jewellery cleaner.

All my jewellery items are made with various materials, New Zealand Paua Shell, Sterling Silver, Silver plated, & Gemstones. All items are nickel, cadmium & lead compliant. Rhodium plated Silver base metal is Brass and Zinc. Paua shell is a New Zealand sourced shell also known as Abalone and dates back to Maori traditions. This shell was deemed as a good luck symbol and was often given as a gift at weddings and other special occasions. The shell contains various different swirls from green blue to pink purple, amber , yellow and brown. Silver plated jewellery with a base metal such as Brass - can turn the skin Green on some people. If you have metal sensitivity do not order.

Is the Abalone Shell Sustainably Sourced?

Yes it is. The abalone is fished for its meat in New Zealand, so the shell is a by-product. They can only be fished by traditional methods of free diving, and they can only take them of a certain size to protect the smaller younger ones.

USA orders are now sent via TRACKED as standard. Other International orders are sent via standard mail with NO TRACKING. If you pay to upgrade to a tracked service, you will get your tracking link when your order dispatched. There is NO tracking link with a standard international post. In the event of loss, you will only be refunded up to the maximum value of the chosen postage option. And only once Royal Mail have refunded me. International Orders are not deemed as lost until after 25 WORKING DAYS of the expected delivery date. Once those times have passed i will put a claim in with Royal Mail and issue a refund

Metal & The Skin / Allergies

Silver plated jewellery with a base metal such as Brass - can turn the skin Green on some people. If you are known to be sensitive to anything other that Sterling silver, please do not order , Silver plated items from me - i will not refund for this issue. If you are known to be sensitive to Silver plated jewellery. Please do not order my items. I cannot be held responsible for allergic reactions. All items clearly state Silver plated. With the option to upgrade to 925 Sterling on a lot of my items.

Small Parts / Pets & Non Smoking/ Environment & Packaging

My items are not permitted to be used by young Children. Anything with small attached parts can be a choking hazard. I work from a smoke free environment. I am a non smoker. But i am pet friendly, cat and dog home. Items are sent so they arrive in one piece, therefore a degree of packaging material is required to get your order to you in the way you expect. Where possible i recycle the packaging I use - Bubble wrap, parcel boxes etc. I use Organza bags and small sealed plastic bags - if you order multiple crystals you will receive them in as least bags as possible. Moving forward we are looking at biodegradable packaging. We are also partnered with Ecologi https://ecologi.com/thequirkypagan to offset our carbon footprint.

Imagery And Abalone Colouring

Whilst the upmost care is take to photograph every piece in the same natural light , sometimes there may be a slight difference in colour from photography lighting to how the natural eye perceives a colour. If you have colour queries please contact me before ordering. Each piece of Abalone shell is unique , so no piece is the same. You may not receive the exact piece you see in a listing. If you would like specific colours or markings, please contact me prior to purchasing.

I am living in the US will i receive surprise fees on arrival?

No you will not. All goods i send to the US have the fees covered before they enter the network. You will not be expected to pay any extras.

How is my Personal Information stored ? and GDPR policy.

Your information is ONLY used to process and complete orders and for any legal tax purposes audits. Your address is used on the parcel envelope and the envelope is passed to Royal Mail to be sent to you. Your personal information will not be shared. You will not be spammed. Your personal information is stored on ETSY and receipts in a locked storage box.

Please do not wear your jewellery in water, this includes baths, showers , pools and the sea. Please store away from direct sunlight and heat. Contact with creams , oils , perfumes and cosmetics can cause metal discoloration. This type of discoloration is not a manufacturing fault and can be avoided if my care plan is adhered too. Damage due to general wear and tear is determined by the wearer i do not hold responsibility for this. Jewellery should be handled delicately. For example crystal jewellery needs extra care . Some crystals are low on the crystal hardness scale and can break and chip more easily than others. For example Fluorite has a low hardness scale. Please take care not to drop or scuff your jewellery.
