From the artist:
“My collage paintings are made with paper cut from gossip and fashion magazines. I repurpose the images they display in an effort to call the viewer away from a superficial, consumerist culture; however, rather than reappropriating the images themselves, I use their color and texture as though it were paint.

By manually transforming the magazines into pieces of original art, I enact a shift from a technologically-manipulated world back toward one which is tangible and true. By bringing focus to totem animals surrounded by the four natural elements of earth, air, fire and water, I seek an active connection with the natural and spiritual worlds—one with layers, cuts and creases.”
