Midwinter Wild Oats. Cup and Saucer Duo(s) 1974.
In beautiful condition, with barely any signs of wear. No stains, crazes, chips etc. Glaze still beautifully glossy and vibrant.
Approx dimensions: Cup 6.5cm high x 9cm diameter, saucer 15.5cm x 400g before packing.
What I love about this design is that the motif of wild oats is embossed into the clay surface, not just stencilled on - and where the iron oxide colour is thicker it has lovely flecks of lustre to it varies from piece to piece.
Wild Oats is from the iconic Stonehenge "Creation" series by Eve Midwinter, and was released in 1974 and in production into the early 1980's. The designs from these series have stood the test of time, and become representative of their era - the round knob and large handles are a feature of the series, along with the beautiful iron flecked cream coloured stoneware glaze.
