How do you measure clothing?

All measurements are taken with the garment lying flat. Tops & Dresses: Bust: Measure straight across from one armpit seam to the other, then double that number. Waist: Measure across the narrowest part of the garment (usually the middle), then double. Hips: Measure across about 8 inches below the waist seam, then double. Sleeves: Measure from the top of the shoulder seam down to the sleeve end. Shoulders: Measure from one shoulder seam to the other. For sleeveless styles, measure from edge to edge across the top. Total Length: Measure from the top of the shoulder seam to the bottom hem. Bottoms: Waist: Measure straight across the waistband. Hips: Measure across about 8 inches below the waistband.
