Jamila Crochet Doll Pattern
This crochet pattern is an original design created by Aniqua Wilkerson of My Kinda Thing and the My Kinda Thing University.
This digital file provides detailed instructions on how to create her “Jamila" Crochet Doll Design! I named her Jamila, which means beautiful. I created her because I wanted her to be a beautiful representation of my mission. This important mission is to promote pride and confidence in children of color (particularly girls and even more specifically black girls) in efforts to combat self hate. I do this by creating dolls and crochet doll patterns that highlight some of the distinctive aspects that represent REAL DIVERSITY.
This intermediate pattern is for the crocheter that is familiar with working in the round.
There are some exclusive crochet techniques in this pattern that are not typical, but will be quite useful to create this design as well as use in other crochet projects.
One of the highlights of this design is the textured Curly Afro Puff technique, a useful method that can be used for this crochet doll design and any other doll designs.
