hand-carved and hand-printed image of Canada geese flying over a river valley and distant wind farm, entitled "heading south", by Vermont-based artist Margot Torrey. The print itself is approximately 12" by 9 1/4" (and it is always nice to leave a bit of space around the ink-edge, so bear that in mind when matting or framing). This is a fine example of my mother's compositional style, depicting the wildlife and landscape of New England. Each print is hand-rolled on off-white Japanese rice paper, and may have slight variations based on the way the ink interacts with the rice paper. There is one last print signed by the artist and several new prints from a recent print run by me, her daughter.
Margot created and exhibited this woodcut artwork from her barn-studio in Putney, VT from the mid-70's until her final "Celebration Sale" in 2017. I have been enjoying sharing her artwork with a wider audience through this Etsy shop.
