These coin earrings are hand-made from a brass replica of an old Chinese “cash” coin used in China and East Asia, from the 4th century BC until the 20th century AD, characterized by their round outer shape and a square center hole (方穿, fāng chuān).

Apart from their attractive shape, these coins conjure up human transactions over the centuries, the exchange of spices, silk and tea…they call to the past… to the time of Shanghai Lily in the 1930’s….
