Quilt-as-you-go PDF Sewing Pattern, this is a Japanese origami style folded fabric method to make a unique handmade patchwork quilt. This is most suitable for hand stitching.

The folded fabric squares look like cute Kawai food boxes, hence the quilt name: Bento Box Quilt.

The finished quilt size is 15” by 17½” (38 cm by 45 cm), but the size can easily be adapted from a mini to king size quilt if required.

The patchwork quilt design is reversible, so no backing fabric is required at the end.

Fabric Requirements:
42 x different prints or a 5” charm pack. Small prints work best!
4” by 42” fabric strip for the centre squares or a FQ (18” by 21”) fabric.
Batting scraps or thin cotton batting.
Thread: Sulky 30 cotton or similar weight thread for stitching centre squares
Stronger thread: Perlé cotton size #8 or #12 for joining blocks
Optional: 1” (25mm) bias binding maker
Optional: small piece of cardboard or template plastic to make a square template.
