Hand forged woodworking holdfast with a very basic forged end as opposed to my other leaf style holdfasts. Sized for perfect function in either a 3/4" hole or a 1". These work best in a bench from 3" - 4" thick but have been used in many benches both thicker and thinner. If your bench is over 4" thick please let me know and I will chose just the right holdfast. these are often used in pairs.

11/16" diameter for the 3/4" version
15/16" diameter for the 1" version

(provides 5" of clamping in a 4" bench top)

These are unfinished for the best hold. The use of oil, wax or other friction reducing finishes will reduce their holding power.

I am so happy with the custom holdfast from Black Bear Forge. I use the Sjobergs Elite 2000 workbench WITH cabinet underneath. Because of the cabinet, (and also because the workbench uses 1" diameter dog holes which seems less common these days), I needed a pretty custom length holdfast. I gave John the necessary dimensions and the holdfast works WONDERFULLY. I'm so excited to have it and I already ordered a second one.

These holdfasts are awesome! I ordered holdfasts from two other vendors before these. The first set never arrived due to an international shipping issue. The second set never arrived because they were packed poorly and opened up during shipping. Third time is the charm, and I couldn't be happier that this is the set I ended up with. John got them out the door to me in a hurry and they got put to work the day they arrived, and will undoubtedly provide a lifetime or two of workholding services for me and whoever is lucky enough to inherit them.

Long time viewer of the Black Bear Forge channel and needed a fold fast for my new workbench. This is probably the easiest hold fast to use! I have a 4 in thick top and just a easy tap on top and it holds really well! Very happy with it.
