We love collecting vintage religious treasures and came across this beauty. We are obsessed with Guadalupe and my husband has recently been in love with holy water bottles in the shape of Guadalupe/ Virgin Mary. We have several now but he is willing to release a few to our customers :)

He says that the story behind these treasures are that in Mexico in the early 1900's, you could buy these unique hand made glass bottles from artisan street vendors adjacent to the Basilica. Then the parishioners would take them to a sacred area, El Pocito Chapel or known as the little well, which covers the springs that are said to have healing & Holy powers.... They then use the vessel to pour the healing water into them and to take them to their own homes for personal use.

It is harder to find this bottle with a stopper in such good condition so these go for a higher price. A true treasure for any collector. The colors are so vibrant and wonderful. This one is a amber/olive greenish color. Also, there are some air bubbles which are not cracks throughout the bottle. Uniquely imperfect like us all!!!

Since this is a vintage hand blown holy water bottle there are a few imperfections which are congruent with hand made items from artisans.

She measures 10" x 2.5" tall with the stopper in place. About 2.5" in width from the side including the handle. There is a pontil scar on the bottom
