Out there, the wifi is weak, but the connection is strong. Out there, we feel peaceful, light and free of worry. Out there, we find ourselves. Inspired by the wilderness that I love so much, I put a little bit of wild into each of these nature-based pendants. Take a little piece of nature with you, anywhere you are.

This pendant is part of the Miniature Art Nature-based line of art jewelry by TreeWolfArt. To make these pendants I start from scratch, making the base myself from a completely natural raw material, a mixture of resin and minerals, that I pour into molds, dry and then paint. The material I use is environment friendly, non-toxic and fire resistant and gives a “stone” feel to these pendants, similar to alabaster.

You can wear this pendant either as a “mărțisor”, a Romanian traditional lucky charm that I take my inspiration from, or as a pendant or earrings. The pendants are mounted on a black satin or silver necklace. You can choose your preferred option at checkout. For all finish options I use only 925 Sterling Silver.

Each pendant of this line is one of a kind, and it cannot be fully duplicated due to the uniqueness of the hand painted miniature art.

Measurements:
Pendant: depending on the shape, on average around 1.2” (3cm) in diameter.
Black satin necklace: can be cut to custom size
Sterling Silver necklace: 16” (40.6cm) or 18” (46cm)

All my pendants are carefully gift wrapped in a beautiful rustic jewelry box with a black velvet interior and packaged with utmost care to be shipped in bubble-lined envelopes made from recycled paper.

The tradition:

This hand painted pendant is actually a “Mărțisor”, a Romanian traditional lucky charm that celebrates the coming of spring.

Mărțisor is part of a tradition that spreads throughout the Balkans. It is a small lucky charm that comes with a red and white string attached to it. Red symbolizes summer and white is the color of winter. The two colors intertwined in this string symbolize, and celebrate, the mid ground between the two: spring!

According to the tradition, men offer these lucky charms to women on the 1st of March as a way to celebrate the coming of spring.

The legend: according to the old tradition the charm is worn by women for the entire month of March and, as soon as the first fruit tree blooms, they should tie the red and white Mărțisor string into the branches of the first cherry blossom. The birds will take the string and fly it to the skies and the wearer will be blessed, the legend says.
