Materials: Walnut Maple and Cherry

NOTE: because these are handmade, there could be some minor differences between the picture and what you receive.

Short rolling pin are Walnut, Cherry and Maple. They are 10", 10" x 1-1/4" and 8". The 10" and 8" are 1-3/4" in diameter. The 8" is square cut on the end because of the total length. Smaller use for pastries and flour tortillas. On the home picture the one on the left is Walnut 10" long x 1-3/4" in diameter. The one in the middle is Cherry 10" long x 1-1/4" in diameter. The one on the right is Maple 8" long x 1-3/4" in diameter.

Let me tell you a little about Cherry and Walnut. Cherry wood is a fine grain wood which means the grains are tighter and closer together. They sand real smooth and won’t fuss up much when washed. The colors are deep red to a light reddish tan. Walnut is a coarse open grain wood, which means the grain is a little bigger. They will sand smooth but tend to fuss up a lot when washed then dried. They can be lightly sanded to remove the fuss. The colors are dark brown to a light brownish tan. Maple wood is a very fine grain wood. Grains are very tight and make an excellent rolling pin. The color are tan to white. Some I get the maple and it will the traces of the Ambrosia Beetle. Which makes a very nice grain pattern. I use all the colors in cherry, walnut and maple. All woods might have, what I call birth marks. They could be black marks to twisted grain. I will use these as long as I can fill and sand smooth and they don’t have cracks

Remember on spoons, spatulas, spurtles, forks, rolling pins, ladles, and honey dippers you will not be getting the one that is pictured. That one has already been sold. I try to make all my items designed off the original. Originals will always have a number beside it, meaning one of a kind.

If you want a smoother feel after washing, lightly sand with fine sandpaper(220 grit)
Oil or Wax (food safe mineral oil, butcher block oil or my special blend of wax)
Wipe dry.
Oil once about every 2 to 6 months or just when you please, the more the better
If you spoon develops a crack, this doesn't mean it's no good. It's just means you have to clean it a little better.

YES. I use mostly Cherry and Walnut, because customers love the colors. I put the spoon in a plastic sleeve and seal the ends, so if the post office has a bad day your spoon won't be damaged and the packing material won't soak up the oil on the spoon. My spoons are nice to look at as well as to use. Almost all the spoons and spatulas have a bumpy old look and a new feel to the handles. This is a technique my dad taught me years ago. I started doing more handles that are smooth because customers on Etsy might not know what I'm describing. You just have to feel them. Some of my spoons bowls are round, which I turn on the wood lathe. The others I chisel and scrape the bowls. No CNC machine
