Seller's description
I am thrilled to share Crystal Skull Tarot, a 78-card Tarot deck by me, Jessie Driscoll, with 150-page guidebook by the legendary Rachel Pollack! This project was successfully funded on Kickstarter and is now produced and available! Crystal Skull Tarot is a 78-card photographic Tarot deck based on traditional RWS imagery, but with crystal skulls as the characters.
For a lovely 4-minute snapshot of Crystal Skull Tarot, enjoy this clip from the lovely Marine of Waves of Your Soul on YouTube. she really captures what I hoped to convey with this deck. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/ih4Lspr59E4PNasE
SPECS: The deck was printed on luxurious 350gsm cardstock with smooth matte lamination, and it comes in a two-part rigid box which houses the cards and bound book. The book has the same length and width as the (standard tarot sized) cards. Crystal Skull Tarot was produced by a respected printer with an excellent portfolio of high quality indie tarot decks. The guidebook has been written by the legendary Rachel Pollack, a world-renowned Tarot author and teacher (the last photo is a picture of Rachel Pollack exploring Crystal Skull Tarot for the first time)! Rachel worked her magic, and the book is substantial enough to read cover to cover. She put into words what I had intuited in the images. The book includes an explanation of stone, skull and composition choices that relate to this deck in particular, and a glossary of the metaphysical properties of the stones.

Skulls can be thought of as containers for consciousness, and crystal skulls are effective conduits for both intention and intuition. Crystal Skull Tarot came to fruition after years of personal practice with crystals, crystal skulls, and Tarot. Skulls were chosen intuitively for each card, based on the colors, feel, and properties of the stones from which they were carved, and how those properties connected to the meanings of the cards. Crystal Skull Tarot is a photographic deck that follows the Rider Waite Smith system, and many of the images are direct homages to the classic RWS Tarot. All photographs were taken in natural window light, using a handmade antique tablecloth as a background. This handmade cloth, and the minerals that formed in the earth many years ago, are connections to ancestors and time-honored wisdom. In addition to the minerals, color comes in splashes of both natural colored and hand-dyed wool, some in lock form and some handspun into art yarn. The wool has energy programmed into its very structure, and its presence adds a palpable spark to the images.
In Crystal Skull Tarot, Wands are found twigs. Cups are pieced-together blue Gem Silica gemstone beads and cabochons. Blue gemstones are associated with water. In crystal medicine, they are felt as calming. Swords are natural Quartz crystal points. In crystal medicine, Quartz points help us to focus our intentions and cut through fog. Pentacles are old Morgan silver dollars for the aces and court cards, and pure .999 silver miniature reproductions of them in the numbered cards.
Stones in Crystal Skull Tarot include: African Turquoise, Agate, Amazonite, Amber (Reconstituted), Aventurine, Blue Coral Fossil, Brown Jasper, Clear Quartz, Chrysoprase, Dendritic Jasper, Fluorite, Gem Silica, Girasol (Milky Quartz), Labradorite, Lapis Lazuli, Lava Rock, Mangano Calcite, Mookaite Jasper, Moss Agate, Nephrite, Not Amazonite ( a lovely blue quartz-based stone with several names that is often falsely marketed as Amazonite), Obsidian (Red Snowflake), Ocean Jasper, Serpentine, Rhodocrosite, Rose Quartz, Ruby, Schorl (Black Tourmaline), Smoky Quartz, Terahertz, Tiger Eye, Topaz (Blue), Tridacna Gigas (Giant Clam Shell), White Jasper, Yellow Calcite, Yellow Coral Fossil, Yellow Jasper and Zebra Jasper.
I introduced almost all of the skulls from Crystal Skull Tarot in this wonderful conversation with Chris from Elemental Cartomancy. Our live video was 3 hours long! Just as Rachel Pollack had put into words things that I had merely intuited in the making of the deck, Chris shared new insights that gave me a deeper meaning for my cards. Personal, tactile, RWS + Crystal. I love these.
One of the most beautiful tarot decks that I now have in my collection. I also collect crystals and skulls. This deck is phenomenal. Guidebook by Rachel Pollock is wonderful with a wealth of information that also includes the crystal for each card. Customer service outstanding. Thank you.
