The hoops are measured from inside edge to inside edge. This measurement is called the inner diameter and it is usually measured with a caliper. However you can use a ruler.
The measurement that you need is to take the distance from the piercing hole down to the edge of your nose/cartilage/lobe. This will be the smallest inner diameter that you can wear, and the hoop will fit snugly. When ordering beaded hoops make sure you add 1mm to that size to accommodate the beads.
These are the most common sizes but please notice that each person has different facial features and there are exceptions:
6 mm (super snug)
7 mm (snug/tragus piercing fit)
8 mm (common for all types- nose, upper earlobe fit)
9/10 mm (lower earlobe)

I purchased this ring nearly 3 months ago and wear it somewhat regularly. It is dainty yet sturdy. It still looks just as beautiful as when it arrived. I have caught the disc/sunflower on clothes a few times and it did not bend. It does looks smaller than in the photo (I did not pay attention to the measurements), and keep in mind that the main photo shows the ring doubled with another. Very minimalistic which is exactly what I wanted. I am saving this store and will purchase from them again!
