DESIGN - Owl & Mouse. This drum is hand painted to order.

In a hollow tree once lived a wise owl., everyday the owl would fly to this one particular tree to pick up food, then fly back home again to enjoy his meal.

The other birds were so confused as to how the owl came by his meals so easily, the wise owl said, “ I was flying one day, when I saw some mice in an old tree, it was full of insects and crawling with mice. When I tried to catch them, they would run away too quickly. This is when I had an idea, I began to befriend the mice and feed them with wheat, they got really fat and healthy, just perfect for me to eat, but I needed to make sure they wouldn.t escape, so I bit off all their feet!”

The birds realised that the mice could no longer run so each day they waited for the owl to bring them wheat, but in exchange the owl would also take a mouse home to have for his tea!

So the wise owl always had his food waiting for him and didn’t have to look too far for it.

A new set of 4 designs created as drums, prints and cards. The idea behind is that I am looking at the ancient history of peoples who lived in devon Uk and the stories and tales once told. I've taken inspiration from these and created artwork based on the symbolism and morals from the ancient stories. The Drums - original paintings created to celebrate the heartbeat of the land.
