I love the look of these old steamer trunks.
Their industrial feel gives them unique character. They are so versatile in their use and just thinking about who used them in the past makes it all the more interesting.
The Belber brothers opened a first factory in 1903. The Belber brothers were soon joined by their 2 other brothers, Herman and Maurice. In 1919, the Belber Trunk and Bag Company acquired the Oshkosh Trunk Company and became the world’s biggest manufacturer of traveling goods.
The trunk would be perfect to use as a storage trunk or stacked in a room with other trunks as home decor.
It could also be repurposed into a bar or if you added wheels a coffee table.
The leather straps are broken but that just adds to it’s character. It has all the original boxes and the fabric liner on the inside.
The wardrobe hanger bar is broke but could be repaired or replaced.
It has heavy duty brass locks with nailhead detailing around the trunk itself. It’s done in a black leather wrapped with brown leather trim around the edges and brown leather straps.
It measures 40 1/4 inches tall when standing on upright and is 14 1/4 inches wide by 10 1/2 inches deep.
