Three finishes are available:

Classic/Plain hoops are made from round wire for perfect understated elegance.

Hammered hoops shine at all angles with a faceted appearance in the hammered finish.

Flat hammered hoops have a chic modern look that will catch the light all at once on the flat hammered surface.

The gauge of the wire refers to the thickness, or diameter of the wire. The SMALLER the number, the THICKER the wire.

THIN HOOPS: 20 gauge (20g) = 0.8 mm (standard ear wire thickness)
THICK HOOPS: 18 gauge (18g) = 1 mm
EXTRA THICK HOOPS: 16 gauge (16g) = 1.3 mm

20 gauge wire is delicate and therefore very lightweight, even in the larger size hoop earrings. Although I use a hardened wire, care must still be taken to not inadvertently bend the wire out of shape (ie, no napping in earrings larger than 1" and store them safely in their earring box when packing for a trip).

Moving up to the 18 gauge/Thick hoops offers a notable increase in the durability of the hoop if lightweight and airy is not your ideal when searching for earrings.
