Highlights
This 1953 USPS issue honoring The American Bar Association is entitled "Liberty Under Law." It depicts a portion of the famous marble frieze (sculpture) located in the courtroom of the Supreme Court Building. Designed by Adolph Weinman, a Beaux Art sculptor, the frieze shows some of the great lawgivers of history.
When released, it sold for 3 cents. It is in mint condition and housed in a 4.75 inch by 3.75 inch wood frame. Please indicate what color frame you prefer: brown, black, or white.
A bit more history: The United States Post Office issued its first stamp on July 1, 1847. Since that time, over 5000 stamps have been released. Each stamp is given its own identification number called a Scott Number. The stamp on this page has been designated as Scott Number 1022.
