Several years ago I designed this tipsy pole and sold hundreds when I had a shop at Kitchen Kettle Village in Intercourse, PA'
Trying to ship them was always difficult because of the box size, it became very expensive. So I stopped offering them online.
In 2020 I talked to the Amish iron master about doing a knock down version so I could mail it at a reasonable cost.
Now I have a pole to offer that comes in 3 parts. The base + 2 pole sections, no tools needed, they just slide together.
I am excited to get back to the tipsy pole that created such an attraction on my porch.
If your Mother loves plants this would be a nice surprise gift for her.
Second picture shows the standing pole
As you can see in the last picture it also holds a pumpkin stack in the Fall
Enjoy and please share pictures of your creations
TIPSY POT FACTS AND FUN
Must I use clay pots? YES if they are outside, plastic pots are not wind proof on the pole. Plus the holes are not in the center.
What is an Azalea pot and why do I need one? This pot is short and fat, the bottom has a large flat opening to fit the tipsy circle.
What do you mean by heavy soil? Dirt not potting soil in the base pot. Potting soil dries out in the sun and becomes light and fluffy. The base pot is your support for the tower you are building. Pack it down and add some water.
My pots don't stay tipped , why? Because you did not place the first small pot into the soil. one edge of the pot hits the pole and the other side rests on the base pot rim. The pictures show this. Wiggle the pot back and forth till the bottom goes into the base pot soil
Why WD40 spray? It seals your pots and you will water less. The smaller the pot the more you need WD40. You can use it on old or new pots, just be sure they are clean.
I cannot find Azalea pots? Garden nursery not big box store.. Seems to be a shortage some places because a lot of clay pots are imported and no one is getting stock. Look for a base that is slightly over 10" inside, a 12" works well.
The picture shows herbs. I have had better all over growth when I used the same type of plants in the pots. Example All petunias, all lantana or different colors of the same type
