This "BOGOnotes" handout is an excellent supplement to the BOGObiology video tutorial comparing Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration. This 18 page set of "BOGOnotes" features multiple diagrams and graphic organizers at a variety of levels. Each diagram and organizer comes with a vocabulary word bank. It also includes 10 review questions ranging from basic facts to questions requiring in-depth analysis and critical thinking! Each activity has a corresponding answer key.

I developed this method of guided note-taking for my own students when I discovered that they often needed some additional structure to guide their thinking. The steps of Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration, particularly the Krebs Cycle, Calvin Cycle and Electron Transport Chain, are highly complex, and my students struggled to draw the reactions in a way that led to deeper understanding. Creating a structural framework for them was an excellent solution; students could choose to use all, some, or none of the templates and there was plenty of room in the margins for their own supplemental notes.
