Postage stamps have always been an offbeat means of tracking important historical and cultural trends and events. This full sheet of 50 vintage 1960s Project Mercury postage stamps is no exception. It's out of this world, literally!
The USPS signaled the first orbital flight of a United States astronaut on February 20, 1962, with the issuance of this commemorative stamp, placed on sale throughout the country at the exact hour Colonel John Glenn's historic flight officially ended.
This stamp features an image of the Mercury "Friendship 7" capsule circling the earth. The spacecraft is now housed at the National Air and Space Museum, Washington, DC.
The stamp is 0.84" by 1.44" in dimension, arranged horizontally, and issued in sheets of fifty. The color of the stamp is blue and yellow on white paper.
All of the these postage stamps are in mint condition (however there may be some worn or creased selvage and/or broken perforations but the actual stamps are perfect for postage) and you will receive a full sheet of 50 stamps with a total face value of $2.00.
Please note the quantity available in this listing. Buy in bulk! There is more than one sheet available and the more you buy, the more you'll save on shipping.
