This is my preferred sewing thread. It’s just like Gutermann Mara, except it’s made of recycled material! The raw material for this thread is plastic bottles.

Gutermann Mara quality is unmatched. It is shiny with a silk-like sheen. Extremely rub and abrasion resistant. Mara 100 is the equivalent of Tex 30.

Sold by the 1000m spool. Color numbers are the same as for standard Gutermann Mara.

I use Gütermann thread for a lot of my sewing and I was really excited to find that this shop sells rPET Gütermann Mara 100 thread — made from recycled bottles — and in such glorious colors! The colors I bought were: Off-White; Marigold; Orange; Red; Taupe Greyish Brown; and Pistachio. The shipping was very quick. I recommend this seller, 100%. As I use up the other Gütermann spools I have in my thread kit, I’m looking forward to replacing them with with more of these. I just bought several different colored yards of rPET canvas from another sustainability-focused Etsy seller. I’m curious how the thread and fabric colors will look together. I’m excited to make something entirely out of old bottles that looks like a million bucks!
