Over Nijntje:
Nijntje is 'geboren' in 1955. Tijdens een vakantie in Egmond aan Zee vertelt Dick Bruna elke avond voor het slapengaan aan zijn oudste zoon Sierk een verhaal over een wit konijn dat in de tuin van het vakantiehuis rondloopt. Dat konijn wordt de inspiratie voor Nijntje. Als vader Dick iets tekent, verschijnt Nijntje op papier. Omdat hij liever een jurk tekent dan een broek, verandert hij Nijntje in een meisje. Ze kijkt de lezer eigenwijs aan met haar zwarte ogen, heeft twee strakke puntige oren en prachtige ronde wangen.
Nijntje spreekt kinderen over de hele wereld aan en geeft ze een warm en prettig gevoel van geborgenheid. Veel kinderen herkennen zichzelf in Nijntje en haar avonturen. Ze is ongecompliceerd en onschuldig, positief en staat open voor nieuwe ervaringen.
