Reclaimed wood contains original nail heads, blemishes, scuffs, saw marks.... character! Understanding the wood pigment is all different in nature, (one stain looks completely different on 2 types of reclaimed wood) we will try our best to accommodate color requests or if you send example of sign you like. “White background” will be antique white unless specifically otherwise specified.

note: Please pre-dig your holes and/or wet the ground for the stakes. Try to use a rubber mallet to hammer into soft ground. Seller not responsible for damage that occurs during installation.

Here at Long Custom Creations, we take great pride in our craftsmanship which includes a very intensive process to paint, stain, and seal each piece of wood. We use high-quality exterior products to help make every product weather resistant. However, as with all exterior furniture & décor left outside year-round, occasional maintenance will help keep it looking new. Depending on the amount of moisture, sunlight and other environmental factors we recommend touching up your sign every 1-3 years. Just like a fence or the paint on your house, the color may fade, and the protective coat may crack if penetrated by continuous direct sunlight. Placing your sign in a shaded area or under an overhang will increase the life of the sign.
Recommended Maintenance
For the stained wood we recommend using 320 grit sandpaper to sand down all the exposed pieces of wood. This process may be easier if the numbers/letters are removed prior(only applicable for our custom cut metal with screw holes exposed) Ensure area is free of dust, then apply a thin coat of Helmsman Clear Gloss Spar Urethane over the wood evenly. To create a stronger, longer lasting finish, you will want to repeat the sanding and Spar Urethane process for 3 total coats. Per manufacture’s recommendation allow 24 hours of dry time between coats.
Painted areas can be cleaned with a soft damp cloth. If additional coat of paint is needed, be sure to use an exterior option, we use Clark & Kensington Hi Gloss mildew resistant Paint + Primer in one.
