This two-headed drum is known as tama, taman, or tamani, by the Mande-speaking peoples of West Africa and by other peoples in the region. It is 11" in height and 4 1/2" in diameter.

To sound the tama, the player holds the drum under an armpit and grips the cord strings in the hand. While striking one of the drum's heads with both the fingers of one hand and a stick held in the other hand, he alternately squeezes and releases the strings; this action causes the drum heads to tighten and loosen, thus raising and lowering the pitch.

The item quality was good, but the only thing wrong with the drum is the cords do not have much tension on them. This inhibits the bending sound the talking drum creates. The drum also did not come with an adjustable shoulder strap which is needed for a talking drum. Regardless the drum quality was there! Customer service was amazing. Very responsive and went into detail with answers. Shipping was quick and left a contact info along with a small item as thank you gesture. This seller takes pride in his work.
