Western Red Cedar Adirondack Chair and Footrest Set, Flat Pack Garden Furniture Kit

Handmade Western Red Cedar Adirondack chair and matching footrest, milled and
made by hand in western Canada from clear, knot-free old-growth cedar. Both
pieces ship flat-packed in one box for you to assemble. The footrest is not
attached, so it gives the chair a lounger feel but can be moved aside when you
don't want it.

WHY THIS SET IS DIFFERENT
- Old-growth Western Red Cedar, increasingly rare and sought after worldwide
- All of the cedar is quarter-sawn for straight vertical grain and dimensional stability
- Kiln-dried to a moisture content far below big-box store lumber, for a more stable and durable set
- Clear lumber, meaning no knots anywhere on the chair or footrest
- Full one-inch rough-sawn boards are planed and sanded to their finished thickness, so the finished parts are as thick as possible
- Seven-inch-wide chair arms provide room for a drink, book or plate
- Dual cross braces add support beneath the chair
- 305 and 316 stainless-steel fasteners are used throughout
- Each set is shaped, sanded and prepared by me in small batches

PACKAGING
The chair and footrest are packed together in one double-walled cardboard box.
The packaging is completely plastic-free. I use satchels of fragrant cedar
shavings as filler, and everything in the box is either reusable or made from
100% recyclable cardboard and paper.

Western Red Cedar naturally varies in colour from one board to another. I select
a mixture of lighter and darker pieces so the chair and footrest show the natural
contrast and character of the cedar. Every set is identical in dimensions and
fit, but no two look the same.

FINISH AND CARE
The chair and footrest in the photographs are stained with SICO ProLuxe Primary
Coat RE1 in the Natural tint. I use this finish because it brings out the natural
colour and grain of the cedar without covering it.

Your set will arrive unstained so you can choose the finish you prefer. I
recommend applying a suitable exterior wood stain before assembly to help
protect the cedar and slow the natural weathering process.

ASSEMBLY
The chair arrives as 34 pieces and the footrest as 14, predrilled and
countersunk where needed, edges rounded over, and finish-sanded to 120 grit.
Also in the box: full-colour instructions for both pieces, stainless-steel screws
and carriage bolts, a seat-slat spacing tool and a driver bit.

The chair takes between 1.5 and 2 hours to assemble and the footrest around 20
minutes, depending on your experience. You will need an electric drill, a tape
measure, and an 11 mm or 7/16 inch wrench.

MADE IN CANADA
I mill all of my own lumber quarter-sawn from clear, knot-free old-growth
Western Red Cedar. Every part of both pieces is then cut, shaped, sanded and
predrilled by me in my workshop in western Canada, and packed as a kit ready for
you to assemble. All shaping is done by hand in small batches, quality over
quantity.

SHIPPING
The set ships as an unassembled kit in a double-walled cardboard box for added
protection in transit. I ship through the postal system, so please make sure
your address is one the postal carrier can deliver to. Parcels returned to me as
undeliverable will need to be paid for again to reship.

IMPORT VAT AND CUSTOMS
Import VAT and any customs charges are not included in the price of this set.
They are set by your own country and collected on arrival, before delivery.
