♥HOW TO TELL IF YOUR STERLING SILVER JEWELRY IS REAL 92.5?
If you’re considering buying 925 silver jewelry, you will no doubt want to know the difference between pure silver and 925 sterling silver. Pure silver is not made up of only silver. It has 99.9% of silver, and a small content composed of other metals such as copper. Sterling Silver, on the other hand, consists of 92.5% silver, and the remaining part consists of mostly copper. This is the reason why Sterling Silver is popularly referred to as 925 Sterling Silver or just 925 Silver. Silver plate is different from real silver because only the surface of the jewelry is covered with real silver and the rest of the item is made up of the copper or nickel alloy. The reason silver needs to be combined with other metals is that it is very difficult to make great designs with just pure silver, which is very soft and malleable. A bit of hardness must be introduced, by adding other metals such as copper.

1. Cosmetics: Make-up present on the skin or clothing is the most common cause of blackening or smudging. Cosmetics often contain chemical compounds that are harder than the jewelry itself. ♥HOW TO CLEAN STERLING SILVER JEWELRY:
• You can use a silver polishing cloth.
• Take an aluminum pan or line a pan with aluminum foil.
• Fill with about 2 inches of water.
• Add 1 tsp bicarb of soda and 1 tsp salt. Boil.
• Throw the jewelry piece in. Boil for 2-3 minutes.
• Pour out, catch the jewelry piece, rinse it, and rub it while rubbing it with your fingers.
• Take a soft cloth-like flannel or cotton, and rub it until it's nice and shiny.
