Emotions are tricky! For many children, self-regulation needs to be taught. This tool is an excellent way to help children:

1. Label their emotions
2. Recognize the intensity of their feelings
3. Select a coping mechanism that suits their needs and interests

This tool is designed to be used in combination with therapeutic interventions. The color system is used in many popular therapeutic programs, and the connection to a traffic light makes it an easy metaphor for children to grasp.

Are you green, just right, ready to go?

Yellow, a little fast, need to slow down?

Red, too fast, need to stop?

Or are you feeling blue, slow, not quite ready to get your day going?

Refer to the appropriate page to select a helpful tool to assist with either speeding up, slowing down, or helping yourself stay in that "just right" green zone.

Designed to print on 8.5x11 inch paper. Print on cardstock and laminate for added durability.

Created by a pediatric occupational therapist.
