  • Vintage: From the 1990s

Seller's description

The 90s did plenty of shrinking down of traditional designs and the aviator was no exception. In this case they're a slightly squared version with a metal face which has a satin finish that is best described as looking like pewter. This material was a major innovation at that time and feels fresh again for the 2020s. They have metal arm spines coated in tortoise plastic which is also a matt finish with matching nose bridge.
We would say they're ideal if your thinking along the lines of a combination of one or more of these features.
1 They're not too flambuoyant and not too dull.
2 Respectable overall quality.
3 They're equally appropriate for men and women.
4 They suit almost any normal sized face.
5 They will never be too fashionable nor unfashionable.
6 They're not too expensive or too cheap.
7 They have no vulgar branding or 'subtle' branding
8 Not too 'vintagey' or too contemporary.
9 They're not significantly different in function or aesthetics to something 3 - 5 times more expensive, and we know this comparison, because we sell those as well.

We also have this model with a black, or green, or brown lens.
Unused 90s stock in mint condition.
Full UV protection.

We have a showroom in London for private clients which you can also message here to make an appointment.
We’ve had features in Vogue Homme International, Elle Japan, Spoon magazine, Cosmopolitan, The Sunday Times, Fashionbeans and too many more to mention.
Organisations we’ve sold to include Tom Ford, Gucci, John Galliano, Kering eyewear, Paul Smith, Romeo Gigli, Victoria Beckham company, Yves Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen amongst others, as well as numerous UK based producers who we would say are more commercially focused than brand focused. We also sell to many UK costume designers and wardrobe co-ordinators for theatre and musical productions including many in the West End.
We have sold to international costume people, whom we’re not allowed to divulge what production they’re using the items for except for the series connected to The Wu-Tang clan.
And the point being, if what we’re doing is good enough for all of them, it’s good enough for everyone.
