How do I know what stick length to choose?

Pick the length to fit your bun, not your hair length. As a rule of thumb, aim for the stick to extend about 1 inch past each side of the bun once it’s set. That ±1" is purely personal preference—choose shorter if you like less steel showing and a stiffer feel, or a touch longer if you want a bit more visibility and leverage for thicker buns.
