Medium Stained Glass Christmas Townhouse Suncatcher - Orange

I have always loved the sight of houses lit up for Christmas, with the glowing warmth of a decorated window spilling out into the winter darkness outside, and it was with the aim of recapturing this that I was inspired to create this range of houses. They are quite labour intensive to produce, but every house is unique, and no 2 houses will be identical. They are designed to be propped in front of a window, and look equally good viewed from the inside through a sunny window during the day, or from the outside into a lit interior when it is dark.

The windows are hand-painted using traditional kiln-fired glass paint on a rich orange art glass. This is a permanent form of decoration which has been used for hundreds of years on stained glass windows. The Christmas tree has been further embellished using genuine liquid gold, and fired again. This house also features a dog looking out of the window at the outside world.

The painted glass is then sandwiched between 2 pieces of laser-cut wood which has been stained and oiled for protection, and finally the exterior edges are sealed with copper tape and a lead/tin alloy solder, which is blackened and polished.
