Although I make my beads with heavy-duty beading wire and solid components including sturdy stone or tempered glass beads, prayer beads are not indestructible--if you use them for tug-of-war or hurl them against the wall, they may break :). They should, however, hold up to most normal use and wear. Because of the materials and finishes used, I don't recommend using jewelry cleaner or any harsh soaps or household cleaners on your prayer beads; they should not be washed in the dishwasher or washing machine, or otherwise submerged in water for cleaning. I suggest wiping gently with a soft, damp cloth.

While I try hard to keep items in stock, they do take quite a while to make and when an item is sold out, it can sometimes take weeks to restock, sometimes more, depending on time issues.

Highlights

Made by HearthfireHandworks
Materials: fire polished Czech glass beads, metal beads and findings, glass seed beads, 49 strand stainless steel beading wire

This set of Odin (Woden) pocket prayer beads consists of a total of twelve beads; the nine beads on the loop recall the nine worlds connected by Yggdrasil, the World Tree, while the three beads on the pendant remind us of Yggdrasil's three roots that reach into the Well. Joining the string is a pendant, a symbol representing the god: the raven. Odin receives knowledge and information from his ravens, Huginn and Muninn.

It is made with 10mm smoky grey fire-polished Czech glass beads with an aurora finish, separated by silver-toned metal spacer beads, and glass seed beads to provide a comfortable transition from one bead to the next and to make the piece lightweight, supple, and easy to handle. The loop itself is approximately 9" (22.9cm) in circumference and the pendant hangs from a 3" (7.6cm) string. It is designed to be used in prayer and meditation, to decorate an altar or shrine, and/or to adorn a statue. The small size makes it easy to keep on hand in a drawer, a purse, or a pocket.

The beads come with a prayer to Odin, written specifically to be used with this prayer bead design, and with a cotton muslin bag for storage.

You can, of course, use the beads with any prayers, or for any god or gods, that you choose or that resonate with you.
