Seller's description

Specifications

May include: A blue and brown ceramic bowl with a decorative cut-out design around the rim.

This beautiful piece of handmade pottery would make a great addition to your kitchenware or home decor! Rich blue hues as deep blue as the ocean melt into sandy shades at the bottom in the glaze. This porcelain bowl measures approximately 5.5 x 5.5 x 3”

This bowl was made as a set, so if you see 2 still available as the quantity than you can get this pair as a set :) If not, she still makes a great piece on her own!

The pieces are designed with art in mind and are each made by hand. Each step of the process is carefully curated, from throwing the clay on the wheel to forming the elegant filigree cutouts and designs, to choosing the unique glaze blends to blend together to form your unique Sanderamics piece.

***Each piece is unique and colors and design might vary slightly with each batch, so please be sure to message me before purchase if you have a very specific piece you’ve fallen in love with based on the photo and I can make sure it’s in stock! ***

The pieces are both:
MICROWAVE SAFE and
DISHWASHER SAFE

Pieces are ~very very carefully packaged~ and ship securely. Other than custom pieces, ready to order pieces will ship in 2-5 business days, and then from there shipping time depends on your location! Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any and all questions or problems. I’m also always open to custom pieces, sets and collections.

-A NOTE ON SUSTAINABILITY-
Or why does some of my packaging look recycled?
Sanderamics is EARTH FRIENDLY. So most of your packaging is indeed recycled, and can be reused again! All of the packaging protecting your newly prized possession has been donated to me or is eco-friendly/recycled. If there is bubble wrap or styrofoam peanuts, it was donated, and the cornstarch peanuts are completely biodegradable. While more beautiful packaging exists, this eco friendly friendly option it is not creating waste to add to landfills for the sake of beauty, and you can reuse it again! That means you can buy a beautiful piece, save the planet AND support a small scale artist all in one purchase. Yay!

Sanderamics is committed to the planet on all fronts. I do my best to be zero waste not only in my daily life but especially my ceramics. I recycle all my clay myself so that every scrap gets used and no scrap is left behind!

-INFO ABOUT FILIGREE-

Why are there holes in the top?

I cut out sections of the tops of my mugs for a couple reasons. First, filigree is one of my favorite techniques to use in clay, especially in my larger sculptural pieces. I sought a way to use that in my functional work to add a unique element of design. Secondly, I debuted my filigree mugs as part of the concept of my college senior show in 2015. In short, the show was all about balance and what exactly that could mean.
This idea of “not too much” applies to my filigree mugs to remind the user that excess can have consequences and to take only what you need. The filigree also forces the user of the mugs to be a little more grounded and live in the moment. When using the mug, you have to put a little extra care into the task and really pay attention to what you’re doing, even if it’s just for a moment when you fill the mug or take a sip from the correct side. Is it more difficult to use than a regular mug? Maybe at first! However, I see myself as an artist first, so I’m willing to sacrifice a little functionality for a stronger design and concept. I realize these aren’t for everyone, so I also make the same designs without cutouts.
