This is a print of my original gardenia herbarium specimen (pressed botanical) artwork. It was made from a high-resolution scan of the original.

The plant is gardenia (Gardenia jasminoides), also known as cape jasmine, and features its flowers in full bloom on spring branches. It was collected in New Orleans, Louisiana by a trained, degreed professional (see my personal profile). An optional, complete collection label is included in the standard location at the bottom right corner of the front of the specimen adding to its scientific appeal.

Fun fact: the coffee plant (genus Coffea) and gardenia both belong to the madder family (Rubiaceae).

Options:

SIZING - The original herbarium specimen was 11x14”. However, prints are available in 5x7”, 8x10”, 11x14” and 16x20”! Smaller sizes are printed on a natural-colored, archival-quality, heavy-weight cardstock, and 16x20” are printed on a heavy, white, poster paper.

BACKGROUND COLOR - All sizes are also available with a "Dark Background." In order to preserve the original colors of the plant, the dark background is digitally added to the artwork file prior to printing (on light-colored paper), resulting in a stunning contrast between the vibrant plant and the black background.

SCIENTIFIC COLLECTION LABEL – All sizes and background colors are also available with just the scientific name of the plant and printed artist signature in place of the collection label.
