Mad Max-Rare Original Vintage Movie Poster for the American 1st Release of George Miller's Post Apocalyptic Action Film starring Mel Gibson

Mad Max-A Rare Original Vintage Movie Poster for the American 1st Release of George Miller's Post Apocalyptic Action Film starring Mel Gibson with Artwork by Bill Garland.

Taking place in a dystopian Australia in the near future, Mad Max tells the story of a highway patrolman cruising the squalid back roads that have become the breeding ground of criminals foraging for gasoline and scraps. After some grisly events at the hands of a motorcycle gang, Max sets out across the barren wastelands in search of revenge.

Set somewhere in the future, we are privy to a world where the roads are ruled by maniac gangs with souped-up cars, and bikers that come straight from the bowels of hell. Trying to stop these marauding loons are an overstretched police force who ride in exceptionally fast cars. At the center of this story is Max Rockatansky, a good honest cop trying to hold his own against the chaotic world that is forming around him. After his best friend is burned and left for dead he decides enough is enough and thinks about retiring from the service, but while on vacation with his wife and child things go decidedly bad and Max becomes an avenging force of fury.

Director George Miller did a brilliant job, in fact, Miller edited the film in his own bedroom just to reduce expenses on an already slim budget. The costumes are fantastic and the cast is exceptional with Mel Gibson as Max defining this iconic character for future generations. There are villains who truly fit the word villainous, but it's the stunts and chase sequences that make this film such a rewarding experience. The opening ten minutes alone are pure adrenalin pumping genius, and the film as a whole delivers a bruising roundhouse wallop that has often been imitated but never equaled. The incredible score by Composer Brian May has become a modern classic.

PLEASE NOTE this Important Information when assessing MAD MAX original release Posters:

Note that this poster does not have a union logo in the center of the white bottom border. Recently, it was discovered that there are Mad Max one-sheets with a "GCIU" logo in the center of the bottom border. Since the "GCIU" printers union wasn't founded until late 1982, we know the posters with that logo are from the 1983 re-release of Mad Max. There was a major 1983 re-release following the huge commercial success of the sequel, "The Road Warrior". All posters purchased from VintageCinemaArt are accompanied by a COA (Certificate of Authenticity) verifying this poster as authentic and original. As with all posters sold by VCA, the poster featured in the listing photos is the actual poster you will receive.

Please refer to the Photo detail and the grading status in the "9-GRADE" System graphs in the photo log. Magnets were used in the photography of these posters so as to limit handling and wear. These magnets are silver and visible in photographs in each of the poster's (4) corners.

Please Note: These Posters are anywhere from 20-70 years old and were issued to movie theaters at the time of the film's release. All Posters came through Auction, Gallery purchase, or from the original movie theater proprietors. Although all posters are stored FLAT and carefully maintained, original poster art of this age can never be in perfect unused condition as it was originally displayed in a Movie Theater.

Any Folds, Tears, or Pinholes are detailed in the notes and close-up pictures. Any glare in the image is due to the camera angle and is not a defect in the poster.
