Having acquired three pieces from Michael, this one may be my favorite. It epitomizes his narrative journey into woodworking, giving the noble apple tree a second life at our table. Great thanks to Michael for bringing this beauty into the world. As Marcus B. Christian wrote, “He who creates true beauty ever lives.”

Kakuzō Okakura wrote, "Tea is a work of art and needs a master hand to bring out its noblest qualities." Just as it is true with tea, so it is true of a good piece of oak. Michael has clearly developed a master hand and put it to good use crafting this splendid tea table. Many a good conversation has already been had around the tea served on it. Gratitude to the artist.

Crafted with great care by a man who has clearly discovered an immense passion for his work, this piece became a well-received gift. It is immediately useful and also manages to be a beautiful objet d'art. I am confident that on the day it was made, to borrow a phrase from William Pitt Root, "...there was sunlight on the wood-carver's shoulder and starlight in his voice."
